Advanced Endoscopy

Precision Diagnosis and Therapeutic Intervention

Advanced Endoscopy represents the forefront of gastroenterological care, utilising sophisticated endoscopic technology not only to diagnose but to treat complex gastrointestinal conditions with minimal invasiveness.

At Gastro Doctor, Dr. Dinesh Lal brings his extensive expertise as an Interventional Endoscopist, having vast experience, to deliver this high-level care. Moving beyond standard diagnostic scopes, advanced endoscopic procedures allow us to visualise, sample, and treat conditions deep within the digestive tract, pancreas, and bile ducts without the need for traditional open surgery.

This approach translates to greater precision, faster recovery, reduced pain, and lower risk for our patients, setting a new standard for managing intricate digestive diseases.

Conditions We Diagnose and Treat

Our advanced endoscopic service is equipped to manage a comprehensive range of complex gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and biliary disorders.

  • Complex Biliary and Pancreatic Disorders

We specialise in managing conditions affecting the bile ducts and pancreas through ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography). This includes removing gallstones lodged in the common bile duct, placing stents to relieve obstructions caused by strictures or tumours, and performing sphincterotomy to improve drainage in conditions like chronic pancreatitis or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction.

  • Early Gastrointestinal Cancer and Pre-Cancerous Lesions

Advanced endoscopy is crucial for the early detection and treatment of cancers. We perform Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) to completely remove early-stage cancers and large pre-cancerous polyps from the oesophagus, stomach, and colon, offering a curative, organ-preserving alternative to surgery.

  • Gastrointestinal Bleeding

We provide urgent and definitive management for acute and chronic bleeding anywhere in the GI tract. Using advanced haemostatic techniques—such as injection therapy, clipping, argon plasma coagulation (APC), and haemostatic powder—we can control bleeding from ulcers, vascular malformations (like angiodysplasia), post-polypectomy sites, and tumours.

  • Complex Strictures and Obstructions

For patients with narrowing of the oesophagus, stomach, or intestines due to inflammation, surgery, or cancer, we perform endoscopic dilation using balloons or bougies to open the passageway. We also place enteral stents to relieve malignant obstructions, restoring the ability to eat and improving quality of life.

  • Full-Thickness Tumour and Tissue Sampling

When deeper tissue analysis is required, we utilise Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). This allows us to obtain fine-needle aspiration (FNA) or biopsy (FNB) from lesions within and adjacent to the GI tract, including the pancreas, lymph nodes, and subepithelial tumours, guiding accurate diagnosis and staging.

  • Management of Pancreatic Fluid Collections

For complications of pancreatitis such as pseudocysts and walled-off necrosis, we perform EUS-guided drainage. This minimally invasive procedure creates an internal drain between the fluid collection and the stomach or duodenum, avoiding the need for surgical intervention.

  • Small Bowel Evaluation and Therapy

For conditions beyond the reach of standard endoscopes, we perform Single-Balloon Enteroscopy. This allows for deep examination and treatment of the small intestine, including biopsy, polyp removal, and control of bleeding sources like angiodysplasia in conditions such as Crohn’s disease.

  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP)

ERCP is an advanced endoscopic procedure that combines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat conditions of the bile ducts, gallbladder, and pancreas, including removing gallstones and placing stents.

  • Endoscopic Ultrasound

Endoscopic Ultrasound combines endoscopy and ultrasound technology to provide detailed imaging of the digestive tract wall and nearby organs, enabling precise evaluation of the pancreas, bile ducts, and lymph nodes.
